The Golf Professional Association (GPA) Charity Golf Tournament was successfully completed at Xili Golf & Country Club on 23rd March, 2006. A sum of HK$100,000 was raised and donated to The Spasticis Association of Hong Kong for the supporting fund of the Domiciliary Occupational Therapy Service in providing territory-wide domiciliary rehabilitation service to people with disabilities and home-based training and support service to people with mental handicap.
Over 120 amateur players together with 16 golf professionals started their journey from Hong Kong to Shenzhen Xili Golf & Country Club in a showery day. At around 11:30am, all players teed-off with their raincoats and prepare to fight for the championship. Even though players are facing challenging greens and tough course condition due to scattered showers & thunderstorm, many players still finished in a very satisfactory result, especially golf professional Mr. William Fung scored the lowest gross score of 70.
The dinner ceremony started with souvenirs presentation from Mr. Cheung Kin Biu – Vice-Chairman of The Spasticis Association of Hong Kong to the event sponsors including Swiss Privilege, Golf007, Helene et Henri, Honma, MacGregor, Masters, Mizuno, Prince Sports HK Limited & volunteer photographer Mr. Joeson Chung etc. Then followed by a donation cheque presentation ceremony by GPA Chairman – Mr. Sammy Ng to The Spasticis Association of Hong Kong.
The most exciting moments came with the prizes presentation ceremony, all winners receive a trophy and a special prize from the sponsors, all prizes worth over HK$50,000. In order to raise more funds, raffles tickets were sold at the event and sponsors donated more than 25 prizes for raffles draw. As a highlight of the event, all participants received a one-year’s free golf insurance sponsored by Swiss Privilege. |
